BRIEF: Noyes Center seeking new tenants for former Next space

Dec. 05--Noyes Cultural Arts Center in Evanston, the longtime home of Next Theatre that shuttered last month, is in search of new tenants, Angela Allyn, program coordinator for the City of Evanston, said on Friday.

Next Theatre, the company that began Tracy Letts' playwriting career, occupied the venue for 34 years.

The current availability of the theater, which seats about 150 people, is Feb. through May, 2015. The 3,100 sq. ft. space underwent a renovation in 2013, which added new seating and new carpets to the theater.

Noyes is also seeking a long-term tenant to occupy the space from Sept. 1, 2015 -- May 31, 2016, the usual span of a theater season.

The search process began in early December with a request for letters of intent. A walkthrough of the space with prospective tenants will take place on Dec. 12. A final decision will be made on Jan. 9.

The Noyes Cultural Arts Center is located at 927 Noyes St. in Evanston.
