Nov. 03--Notre Dame safety John Turner spent the weekend with family in Indianapolis, not on the road with his football teammates in Philadelphia.
That's because his mother, Stephanie Turner, had seen her health take a turn for the worse.
Stephanie Turner died Monday after battling breast cancer.
"You only get one and I was blessed to have a great one," John Turner tweeted Monday. "Heaven received a beautiful angel today. Love you so much!"
An Indianapolis Star story by Gregg Doyel said Stephanie died early Monday afternoon, two days after watching her daughter's high school team win a state soccer championship.
