BRIEF: Notre Dame expected to hire Mike Sanford as new offensive coordinator: reports

Feb. 11--It appears as if Brian Kelly is shaking up his offensive staff.

The Notre Dame coach is expected to hire Boise State offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach Mike Sanford to his staff as offensive coordinator, according to multiple reports.

Sanford was a sought-after name with Fox Sports reporting he interviewed with Ohio State for the Buckeyes' offensive coordinator position. 247sports.com first reported the news.

What Sanford's potential hire means for current Notre Dame offensive coordinator/receivers coach Mike Denbrock is unclear, though Denbrock may take over more of a recruiting coordinator role after the departure of Tony Alford to Ohio State.

Sanford played quarterback at Boise State from 2000-04. Sanford also coached at Stanford prior to joining the Broncos' staff. Sanford's father, Mike, was the quarterbacks coach at Notre Dame from 1997-98.
