Feb. 18--SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Early in Notre Dame's 88-75 victory over Wake Forest, the rust overwhelmed the rest.
Notre Dame began the night shooting 1-for-11 and it seemed as if the Irish had forgotten how to shoot during their week off.
But when the Irish went into the locker room at halftime, they remembered, and while their win over Wake Forest wasn't perfect, Notre Dame looked fresher and more explosive in the second half than it has in any game since the Irish downed Duke on Jan. 28.
Leading the way as usual was guard Jerian Grant, who scored 24 points and dished out 10 assists while Pat Connaughton had 13 points.
The rest also helped Notre Dame at the foul line, with the Irish shooting 27 of 28.
