BRIEF: Northwestern student sexually assaulted in Evanston dorm room

March 31--A Northwestern University student told officials she was sexually assaulted in her dorm room Monday evening at the school's north suburban campus in Evanston.

The student reported the assault happened between 6:30 and 7:30 p.m. in a university residence hall, according to a Northwestern security alert.

The student said she previously talked to the man and met him at a CTA station in Evanston. They then went to her dorm room where the assault occurred. No weapon was displayed in the incident, according to the alert.

The man is not believed to be affiliated with Northwestern, and no detailed description of him was available, according to officials.

Northwestern officials urge community members to report suspicious activity. Anyone who believes they or someone else is at risk should call university police at 847-491-3456.
