March 24--Northwestern received oral commitments this week from defensive ends Earnest Brown of Denton, Texas, and Trevor Kent of Pittsburg, Kan.
The 6-foot-5, 233-pound Brown is a four-star prospect according to the 247Sports.com composite, and his list of offers included Michigan, Oklahoma, Texas, Texas A and Baylor.
"I really wanted to go to Northwestern and I didn't want to lose a great opportunity," Brown told 247Sports.
The 6-5, 253-pound Kent is the top-ranked recruit in Kansas and a three-star prospect. He had offers from Michigan, Oklahoma, Nebraska and Penn State, among others.
Both players visited NU earlier this month.
"Absolutely loved it," Kent told 247Sports. "Great coaches, players, school and their new facilities will rival the best in the country."
They are the Wildcats' fifth and sixth commitments in the Class of 2017.
