March 02--Northwestern's Jim Phillips was one of four people chosen as an athletic director of the year in the Football Bowl Subdivision by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics, it was announced Wednesday.
Under Phillips, Northwestern's 507 student-athletes had a cumulative 3.29 grade-point average last fall and 15 of the school's 19 athletic programs earned public recognition awards last year.
The award also recognized Phillips for the Wildcats' successes in sports as well as the school's facilities growth, specifically the lakefront complex that broke ground in November.
