BRIEF: Northwest Side woman dies in fire

May 19--A 65-year-old Chicago woman died of injuries from a house fire over the weekend in the Kilbourn Park neighborhood, officials said.

An examination Monday determined Gabrielle Donovan, of the 3500 block of North Milwaukee Avenue, died of smoke inhalation and burns from a fire at her home, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.

Donovan's death was ruled an accident, according to the office, which said the blaze erupted about 2 a.m. Saturday.

She was pronounced dead about 9:30 p.m. Saturday at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, according to the medical examiner's office.

The Chicago Fire Department said Tuesday that the woman's home was in a mixed-use building building and that she lived in an apartment that was 50 feet by 100 feet. It was a small fire, fire officials said. The apartment did not have working smoke detectors.
