BRIEF: Semi hit by gunfire on Dan Ryan: 'The gold Impala ... snuck behind me'

March 17--A semitrailer was hit by gunfire as it drove north on the Dan Ryan Expressway near the South Loop on Tuesday morning, but no injuries were reported.

Someone in a gold Chevrolet Impala pulled up alongside the truck near Roosevelt Road around 2:50 a.m. and fired several shots, according to State Police Sgt. Rodney Collins. The cab of the truck was struck, but the driver was not hurt, he said.

The Impala sped off north, police said.

"I was coming down the branch," the truck driver told WGN-TV. "The gold Impala pulled up on my driver's side. Then he slammed on the brakes, snuck behind me and came up on the passenger's side and started shooting."

Police closed several northbound lanes as they investigated, Collins said. All lanes were reopened by 6:10 a.m.
