BRIEF: North Center bank robbed; suspect in custody

March 10--A man suspected in a robbery of a North Center neighborhood bank Tuesday morning is in custody, police said.

About 10:15 a.m., a man walked into the MB Financial bank branch at 3940 North Damen Avenue and approached a teller, according to police and the FBI.

After approaching the teller, the man implied he had a weapon and demanded cash. Although the teller did not see a weapon, the bank employee handed over an undisclosed amount of cash to the man, who then fled, officials said.

As police responded, they arrested a man fitting the description of the suspect a short distance away, police said. The man is in police custody and is being questioned, police said.

No other details were immediately available.
