BRIEF: No one hurt when shots fired on Kennedy

Aug. 17--No one was injured when someone opened fire on a car on the Kennedy Expressway Monday morning but lanes were closed as authorities investigated, according to the Illinois State Police.

The shooting occurred around 5:10 a.m. when someone fired at a white Toyota Camry near Sayre Avenue, officials said. The lone person in the car was unharmed but the car was struck, they said. It pulled over at Higgins and River roads.

No one was reported in custody, but state police said they were looking for a blue Chevy Trailblazer.

Rolling closures affected outbound lanes from Sayre Avenue to the junction with Interstate 94 as police investigated the shooting. All lanes were reopened by 7:45 a.m.
