BRIEF: Cops: No one hurt after police shoot at vehicle trying to run over officer

Dec. 29--A Chicago police officer fired shots after a driver tried to hit an officer with his car early Tuesday morning in the Lakeview neighborhood on the North Side, police said.

The incident occurred around 2:10 a.m. in the 3000 block of North Clybourn Avenue, said Chicago Police Department spokesman Officer Hector Alfaro.

Police officers responded to the area on a call of a battery in progress. When they arrived at the scene, a male driver tried to run over one of the officers with his vehicle as he attempted to flee, Alfaro said.

One of the officers then fired shots at the vehicle. No was hurt as a result of the incident.

Police took four people, including the driver, into custody. A pellet gun was recovered inside the vehicle, Alfaro said.

Charges were pending early Tuesday morning.
