Jan. 22--A United Airlines flight slid off a runway after landing at O'Hare International Airport Friday afternoon but no injuries were reported, fire officials said.
United Flight 734, a Boeing 737, slid onto the grassy median about noon after arriving from San Francisco, fire and airline officials said.
United spokesman Charlie Hobart said the plane "partially rolled off the runway" and went "onto the grass."
He said weather was apparently a factor but had no other details.
Portable stairs and buses were being used to get the passengers to the terminal, Hobart said. He did not know how long the plane would be stuck off the runway.
He said it was likely that the plane would be towed back to the gate and inspected there.
The Federal Aviation Administration said it was investigating.
This is the second time a plane has slid off the runway, O'Hare's newest, in the last 3 1/2 weeks.
On Dec. 30, United Flight 1977 skidded past the end of the runway and came to rest in an overrun area, officials said. No injuries were reported in that incident either.
FAA spokesman Tony Molinaro said the incidents happened at different points on the runway but could not say where exactly.
