July 28--Crews from multiple municipalities responded to a large house fire Monday afternoon in St. Charles.
St. Charles firefighters were dispatched about 2:30 p.m. to a house at 39W766 Carl Sandburg Road, according to a Fox River Countryside Fire/Rescue District news release.
Crews found a large, two-story house with heavy smoke billowing out from the garage and house windows, according to the release.
Crews forced open a garage door and found a large fire extending into the house.
Crews from South Elgin, Elgin, Elburn, Burlington and Hanover were also on scene, according to the release.
A dog and cat were in the house, according to the release, but escaped unharmed.
The fire was under control by 3 p.m., the release states, and crews left the scene at about 4:30 p.m.
No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
