BRIEF: No bail for West Side man accused in August slaying

Oct. 04--A West Side man was ordered held without bail Sunday after being accused in a fatal shooting in August that left an 18-year-old man dead and a 16-year-old boy wounded, police said.

Mark Clay, 20, of the 900 block of North Latrobe Avenue, was charged with murder, police said. Clay was ordered held without bail at a bond hearing Sunday afternoon at the Leighton Criminal Court Building.

Cory Fisher, 18, was shot in the head in the Lawndale neighborhood at 6:15 p.m. Aug. 21, during an attack in the 3800 block of West Lexington that also injured a 16-year-old, police said. Both victims were standing outside when they began arguing with an attacker, who pulled out a gun and fired shots at them.

Fisher was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he died less than 15 minutes after he was shot, authorities said.

The 16-year-old suffered a wound to the shoulder and was in serious condition at Mount Sinai Hospital, police said at the time.

Fisher, of the 3200 block of West Carroll Avenue in Chicago, was pronounced dead at 6:24 p.m. Aug. 21, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.
