BRIEF: Night off for Avisail Garcia as White Sox take on Twins

April 14--White Sox manager Robin Ventura gave designated hitter Avisail Garcia the night off for the club's game against the Twins on Wednesday night at Target Field.

Jerry Sands will be the DH in his place against Twins right-hander Phil Hughes as the Sox try to keep the 0-7 Twins from their first victory.

"Numbers-wise, (Garcia) has always had a tougher time with Hughes," Ventura said. "You have a chance to get Jerry in. He needs at-bats, get him going."

Sox left-hander Carlos Rodon takes on Hughes and enters with an 0-1 record and a 2.57 ERA.

Here's the Sox lineup.

Adam Eaton, RF

Jimmy Rollins, SS

Jose Abreu, 1B

Todd Frazier, 3B

Melky Cabrera, LF

Brett Lawrie, 2B

Jerry Sands, DH

Alex Avila, C

Austin Jackson, CF
