BRIEF: Nickelback cancels North American tour, including Tinley Park show

June 23--Nickelback canceled its North American tour including a July show in Tinley Park, after frontman Chad Kroeger was diagnosed with a vocal cyst, the band announced Tuesday.

Kroeger, 40, will undergo surgery in three weeks and then rest his voice, according to a statement posted on the band's website.

Ticketholders can get their money back at the point of purchase, the band said. The Tinley Park show was scheduled for July 10 at the First Midwest Bank Amphitheatre.

"I am sorry I have to interrupt the party this summer and I am definitely not thrilled with the prospect of being silent for many weeks to come when I could be out there playing for our fans," Kroeger said in a statment. "I am relying on my doctor and his team to help get my voice back in good form as quickly as possible."

The Canadian band anticipates its No Fixed Address Tour will resume Sept. 30 in Finland for its previously scheduled European run. Nickelback are expected to return to North America next year.
