BRIEF: Nick Offerman introduces Jimmy Fallon to his favorite fatty meats

Nov. 10--Growing up in Illinois, "Fargo" star Nick Offerman has learned a thing or two about bratwurst.

Offerman, a Joliet native raised in Minooka, introduced Jimmy Fallon to a bevy of his favorite meats Monday on "The Tonight Show." Offerman said he's trying to gain weight for his role in the play "A Confederacy of Dunces," which is slated to premiere Wednesday in Boston.

"I'm playing a very fat man in this play, so to put on the weight I have a regimen going of some of my favorite fatty meats," Offerman told Fallon. "And I thought your viewers could work them into their own fall schedule."

Among the offerings: bratwurst with a "salad" of Wisconsin cheese curds and a turducken. Offerman said he sometimes finds the turducken leaves him wanting more so he prefers "a flying pig": a large, black Kentucky pig that eats a turducken in mid-August.

"It's a nutty, meaty flavor with hints of shoe leather and mink oil and just a touch of regret," said Offerman, 45.

"Fargo" airs 9 p.m. Mondays on FX.
