Feb. 23--Executive chef Nick Lacasse has left the well-regarded mfk (432 W. Diversey Parkway, 773-857-2540) in a departure that he, and owners Scott Worsham and Sari Zernich Worsham, are describing as amicable.
"I had a great time there, and we're all on good terms," said Lacasse. "But I pretty much decided not to more forward."
Instead, Lacasse, who's staying in town, is working on a couple of projects that he declined to name, except to say that one was short term (read: consulting) and the other long term (presumably a new restaurant).
"Both are very different from mfk," Lacasse said. Which may be the reason for Lacasse's departure; the chef is probably eager to expand his cooking beyond mfk's pinpoint, Spanish-influenced seafood concept.
Joey Schwab, mfk's chef de cuisine, has been promoted to the executive chef position.
"Sari and I are super-excited to have Joey take the reins; he's one to watch," said Scott Worsham. "Joey has been the backbone of our kitchen since the beginning, so there won't be any major changes, other than the seasonal ones we would do normally."
