Feb. 19--Longtime San Diego Chargers center Nick Hardwick, who announced his retirement this month, has purchased a home in the Loma Portal area of San Diego for $1.3 million.
The 1950s ranch-style home, on more than half an acre, features large formal areas highlighted by a living room with a bay window and a marble fireplace. Other living spaces include a formal dining area, a wet bar, a maid's wing, five bedrooms and four bathrooms within 3,717 square feet.
Glass doors off of the family room open to grounds containing a patio, a large expanse of grass and a covered garden.
The home came on the market in December with an asking price of $1.3 million. Cindy Wing of Pacific Sotheby's International Realty was the listing agent. Marc Prestera of Prestera Real Estate represented Hardwick, according to the Multiple Listing Service.
Hardwick, 33, was drafted in the same 2004 class as Philip Rivers and played in 108 games with the Chargers quarterback. In all, he started 136 games for the Chargers across 11 seasons, making one Pro Bowl team in 2006.
