BRIEF: New Jersey mother burned newborn baby girl, police say

Jan. 17--A mother who allegedly set her newborn baby girl on fire in the middle of a New Jersey road will be charged with murder, prosecutors said Saturday.

Police found the baby ablaze Friday just before 11 p.m., after a resident called to report a fire in the street in Pemberton Township, N.J., about 37 miles east of Philadelphia.

The baby was doused with an accelerant before she was set on fire, according to a statement from the Burlington County Prosecutor's Office.

The girl was airlifted to St. Christopher's Hospital in Philadelphia and died about two hours later.

Her mother, Hyphernkemberly Dorvilier, 22, from Pemberton Township, was taken into custody at the scene, and is being held on $500,000 bail. Details about the baby's birth, as well as a motive, are being investigated.
