BRIEF: Netflix picks up Odenkirk movie

Nov. 24--Netflix has picked up an offbeat comedy starring Bob Odenkirk as a down-on-his-luck greeting card writer framed for murder, the Hollywood Reporter reports.

"Girlfriend's Day," which also stars Amber Tamblyn ("127 Hours"), is expected to get a theatrical release as part of Netflix's growing focus on the movie industry. Odenkirk, who was born in Berwyn and grew up in Naperville, serves as the movie's co-writer and co-producer.

The project was initially announced in 2013. Odenkirk also stars with comedian David Cross in the Netflix sketch comedy show "W/ Bob and David," which premiered earlier this month.
