April 17--The Chicago Cubs believe they received some good news when tests revealed that valuable reliever Neil Ramirez suffered only inflammation behind his right throwing shoulder.
It remains to be seen when Ramirez will rejoin the Cubs, but President Theo Epstein was relieved that there was no structural damage.
Justin Grimm and Ramirez play important roles in the Cubs' bullpen and made a total of 123 appearances in 2014 under manager Rick Renteria. Grimm, who was placed on the DL last week because of right forearm inflammation, currently rehabilitating in Arizona and is expected to start throwing off a mound shortly.
The Cubs will stick with two left-handers in the bullpen, and Zac Rosscup will play a more prominent role.
Outfielder Chris Denorfia was activated from the 15-day DL to take the roster spot of Ramirez.
