BRIEF: Neglected, dead dogs removed from Indiana animal rescue

Dec. 17--The Chicago Tribune Media Group's Post-Tribune reports that Lake County officials removed a dozen neglected dogs from a rescue group in Cedar Creek Township.

Two of the dogs were dead and 10 were emaciated and described as clinging to life. The Paws Here Foundation Inc. rescue property is at 22916 Harrison Road, where officers served a search warrant Tuesday. They found dogs in kennels filled with animal waste and no food and water.

Volunteers for the rescue contacted police in September when they became concerned about the well-being of dogs they had rescued from another shelter and brought to Paws Here. The rescue is now facing multiple neglect and cruelty charges.
