Jan. 14--A Naperville man has been charged after a loaded .38-caliber handgun was found in his carry-on luggage at a security checkpoint at Midway Airport this week, police said.
Kevin W. Reed, 28, of the 1000 block of North Mill Street, was on his way to board a plane to Detroit on Tuesday when the gun was discovered by an X-ray screener, police said.
Chicago police arrested Reed and recovered the gun without incident, police said in a statement.
Reed was charged with attempting to board an aircraft with a weapon, a felony. He was released on a $100,000 recognizance bond.
