BRIEF: Motorist trapped in burning car on I-55

April 04--A 51-year-old Burr Ridge motorist was trapped in car that burst into flames after crashing into a semi truck on I-55 Friday afternoon near Burr Ridge.

As of about 6:40 p.m. p.m. all northbound lanes near County Line Road have been reopened, according to state police.

"It's a serious crash," Illinois State Police Elgin District Trooper Aldo Schumann said.

The semi was stopped on the right shoulder when a 51-year-old Burr Ridge man behind the wheel of a Hyundai swerved off the road and slid under the truck about 3:35 p.m., the statement said.

The 51-year-old was trapped in the car as it burst into flames but but his condition was not made available by state police.

The trucker, is 41 and of Hickory Hills.

Emergency crews from Tri-State Fire Rescue went to the scene.
