BRIEF: Motorcyclist seriously injured in Lake County crash

Nov. 04--A man was seriously hurt in a motorcycle crash Tuesday afternoon in far north suburban unincorporated Lake Villa, authorities said.

A 25-year-old man was riding a 2004 Yamaha motorcycle southbound on Route 45 when he struck a 2015 Ford van at the intersection with Rollins Road around 3:15 p.m., according to a news release from the Lake County Sheriff's Office.

The motorcycle driver entered the intersection on the green light while the Ford van, driven by an 18-year-old man, tried to make a left turn onto westbound Rollins Road "directly in front of the Yamaha", the release said.

The 25-year-old motorcyclist, who was wearing a helmet, was ejected from his bike. He suffered a serious head injury and was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center, according to the release.

The driver of the Ford was not injured.

The crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff's Office Technical Crash Investigation Unit.
