BRIEF: Elmhurst motorcyclist killed in crash on I-355

June 11--A motorcyclist from Elmhurst was killed early Thursday after crashing on the Veterans Memorial Tollway near west suburban Downers Grove, authorities said.

The crash happened at 2:04 a.m. on Interstate 355, according to the Illinois State Police.

Michael T. Harris, 48, was riding his 2012 Harley-Davidson in the southbound lanes when he lost control and struck a concrete wall on his right near milepost 20, according to state police.

Harris was thrown from the motorcycle in the crash. He was taken to Edward Hospital in Naperville, where he was pronounced dead, according to a news release from state police.

After the accident, at least one southbound lane was closed for about four hours, police said. As of 7 a.m., officials reopened all lanes.

The cause of the crash was still under investigation, state police said.
