BRIEF: Motorcyclist injured after being thrown in crash near Lake Villa

Nov. 04--A motorcyclist suffered a serious head injury after being ejected in a traffic crash Tuesday afternoon near Lake Villa, police said.

According to a news release from the Lake County sheriff's office, the crash happened about 3:15 p.m. at U.S. Highway 45 and Rollins Road in an unincorporated area of the county.

The 25-year-old motorcyclist was traveling south on U.S. 45 on a 2004 Yamaha and had entered the intersection at Rollins on a green light when a 2015 Ford van that had been headed north made a left turn in the intersection in front of the motorcycle, according to the news release.

The motorcyclist, who was wearing a helmet, struck the Ford and was thrown. He was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with a serious head injury, police said. The 18-year-old driver of the van was not injured.

The crash remained under investigation.
