BRIEF: Walgreens pharmacies' computer problems fixed

Sept. 26--Delays in getting prescriptions filled at Walgreens have been resolved at the chain's stores, the company said Friday.

Walgreens' pharmacy computer database went down Tuesday, forcing pharmacists at all 8,200 Walgreens stores nationwide to fill prescriptions manually.

Friday evening, Walgreens spokesman Jim Cohn said that the problem had been fixed.

"Over the next several days, we will conduct additional maintenance work to optimize the system's performance so that we best meet the needs of our patients," Cohn said in an email.

Walgreens Boots Alliance, which apologized Thursday for the delays, says it processed more than 856 million prescriptions last year.
