Feb. 17--It probably didn't cost an arm and a leg, but Monster Energy drinks is putting its weight behind a Chicago-based sports league.
The World Armwrestling League on Wednesday said it has signed up the energy drink maker as its title sponsor for all of its events worldwide.
The deal is for three years, league President Steve Kaplan said. Dollar terms weren't disclosed. Monster couldn't be reached for immediate comment.
The league was founded in 2014, and Kaplan said Monster is its first title sponsor.
The deal includes all World Armwrestling League events, from local qualifying competitions in North America and seven European countries to championships aired on ESPN2, Kaplan said. The deal also includes content on digital and social media platforms.
Through the partnership, Monster will promote its new Muscle Monster Energy Shake brand.
Other sports that Monster backs include Supercross, mixed martial arts and NASCAR, according to its website.
