April 27--Tyler Allen, 20, who went missing earlier this month, was found safe Sunday morning in Colorado, according to his family.
"Happy day," said his mother, Sheryl Allen, via text Sunday. Allen said they found Tyler about 7:30 a.m. "We are filled with joy and thanks," she said.
In an interview Sunday, Allen said her son was safe and did not even know that there was a search on for him until he saw a missing person's poster with his name on it.
She said he told her he was in the Boulder area and was never in any danger.
"He's heathy and we are now rejoicing," Allen said.
She extended thanks to members of the media and others who were searching for her son and spreading the news about his being missing.
He returned "unannounced" to Boulder, according to Sheryl Allen's sister-in-law, who texted that he was safe.
The University of Colorado sophomore was reported missing by his parents April 18.
Boulder police said he was last seen April 11 and communicated with friends via a text message April 14.
Berry Tyler Allen, who goes by Tyler, lives off campus in Boulder, said Boulder police Detective Sarah Cantu.
Tyler, who is studying communication, lives in a house with four other students, his mother said. His roommates contacted Tyler's parents, worried when he didn't come home.
