BRIEF: Minor deal sends Angels first baseman Marc Krauss to Rays for reliever Kyle Winkler

June 26--The Angels acquired minor league reliever Kyle Winkler from the Tampa Bay Rays in exchange for first baseman/outfielder Marc Krauss on Thursday.

Winkler, 25, has split this season between double-A Montgomery (Ala.) and triple-A Durham (N.C.), compiling a 1.46 earned-run average in 10 games with 15 strikeouts and one walk in 12 1/3 innings.

The 5-foot-11, 200-pound right-hander converted from a starter to a reliever in 2014 and has a 12-14 record and 4.81 ERA in four minor league seasons, with 235 strikeouts and 110 walks in 236 innings. Winkler is a former Texas Christian University teammate of Angels infielder Taylor Featherston.

The left-handed-hitting Krauss played only 11 games with the Angels this season, hitting .143 with one home run and five runs batted in. He hit .289 with four homers and 29 RBIs in 47 games at triple-A Salt Lake.
