BRIEF: Milwaukee North trains resume service after fatally striking person on Far NW Side

Feb. 27--Metra's Milwaukee North trains were temporarily stopped after a train fatally struck a pedestrian on the far Northwest Side, officials said.

Milwaukee North Train No. 2141 which left Chicago's Union Station at 5:30 p.m. struck the person at about 6 p.m., said Metra Spokesman Michael Gillis.

The incident happened between the Forest Glen and Edgebrook stations, said Gillis.

The train had been scheduled to arrive in Fox Lake at 7:06 p.m., Gillis said. That train is about 94 minutes late.

Inbound and outbound Milwaukee North trains began running again at about 7:30 p.m.

No additional information about the person who was killed was available.
