BRIEF: Milwaukee Brewers ban high-fives amid pinkeye outbreak

March 13--The Milwaukee Brewers have banned high-fives at spring training in Arizona in an effort to halt the spread of pinkeye among members of the team.

"We've been going through it for a while and it seems like a couple of more show up every day," Brewers Manager Ron Roenicke said.

Catcher Jonathan Lucroy and pitching coach Rick Kranitz, who have both been struck by the illness, have been sent away from the Brewers for a 48-hour quarantine.

Lucroy has yet to make his spring training debut because of a hamstring injury and with this latest diagnosis he's not expected to see live game action until at least Monday or Tuesday.

But it hasn't been just the Brewers dealing with pinkeye at spring training in Arizona. Oakland Athletics center fielder Coco Crisp dealt with the eye irritation at the end of February.

In 2012, Crisp was out for a week because of a case of pinkeye.

Maybe they should also ban the postgame hand shake.
