June 05--Manager Joe Maddon said that Miguel Montero would return to the Chicago Cubs' lineup, well before David Ross performed his heroics Thursday night in a 2-1 win over the Washington Nationals.
In fact, Montero will make the first of three consecutive starts Friday night against Tanner Roark. Montero will bat cleanup and has a .353 on-base percentage despite going hitless in his past three games and batting only .244.
Anthony Rizzo will move up to the second spot as the Cubs try to generate more offense. Rizzo is batting .344 (11-for-32) during his nine-game hitting streak.
Shortstop Starlin Castro will drop to the sixth spot. Castro is batting .214 (3-for-14) on the first four games of this trip.
