June 09--DETROIT -- It might seem like a risk, but Chicago Cubs manager Joe Maddon has been fearless about his lineups.
Miguel Montero will handle the designated hitter duties Tuesday night with David Ross catching as the Cubs face Detroit in an interleague game at Comerica Park.
This marks the first time this season that the Cubs will use the DH. However, if Ross gets hurt, it's highly likely that Montero would take over the catching duties and the Cubs would lose the DH.
Cubs starting pitchers won't bat in either game of this two-game series. That's a good thing, considering that they've combined to bat .085 this season with Jon Lester (Tuesday's starter) and Jake Arrieta (who is starting Wednesday night) combining for no hits in 50 at-bats this season.
