April 01--A Michigan man was killed and another suffered serious injuries during a single-vehicle crash early Friday.
Zachary R. Pacholke, 21, of Bay City, Mich., was driving a 1991 Chevrolet SUV around 5:37 a.m. heading toward Interstate 80-94 eastbound on the Indiana Toll Road ramp when he took the curve too fast, Indiana State Police Sgt. Ann Wojas said in a press release Friday. Pacholke lost control of the vehicle and rolled the truck multiple times toward the north side of the roadway.
The Lake County Coroner's Office pronounced Pacholke dead from massive blunt force trauma. Wojas said Pacholke was wearing a seatbelt.
Pacholke's passenger, Austin T. Oliver, 22, also of Bay City, was taken to Methodist Hospital Northlake campus with serious injuries, the release said. He was wearing his seatbelt as well.
The ramp was closed for approximately 1 1/2 hours for to reconstruct the crash and transport the two men.
The Lake Station Fire and EMS and Purkey's Towing assisted the state police with the crash cleanup.
