Nov. 04--The DuSable Bridge over the Chicago River at Michigan Avenue was fully lowered after being stuck open for more than an hour Wednesday morning because of an electrical problem following a regularly scheduled bridge lift.
Bridges along the Chicago River are scheduled to be raised on Wednesday and Saturday mornings in the fall for boats going into dry dock for the winter.
The Michigan Avenue bridge was lifted about 10:10 a.m., but the south leaf was stuck in place because of an electrical problem when crews tried to lower the bridge about 10:30 a.m., said Mike Claffey, a Chicago Department of Transportation spokesman. The electrical issues were fixed just before noon and the bridge lowered, with traffic expected to resume soon after, Caffey said.
CTA buses were rerouted in the area while the bridge was stuck in place.
