April 18--Michael Tennenbaum has his glass-clad vacation home in Vail, Colo., listed at $13.9 million.
The financier hired Malibu-based architect Ed Niles to design the five-story house, which was built in 1988. The industrial, modern-looking residence was an avant-garde addition to the Bavarian-style houses popular in the ski community.
The 5,132-square-foot home, with its cubes of glass and 30-foot translucent-topped towers, features green-colored exposed steel beams and columns.
Set between ski runs on a quarter-acre, the mountain-view retreat includes a great room, a dining room with glass on three sides, five bedrooms and five bathrooms.
Tennenbaum, 78, is an avid skier and founder of the Santa Monica-based alternative investment firm Tennenbaum Capital Partners. The firm has invested more than $14 billion since it was formed in 1996.
Locally, he owns a home in Malibu.
