BRIEF: Michael Taus to open Black Iron Tavern in River West

July 06--Chef Michael Taus will open two restaurants in one calendar year.

Off the heels of launching Taus Authentic in February, which took over the Prasino space in Wicker Park, Taus announced Monday he will open Black Iron Tavern in the River West neighborhood.

The restaurant, to be located at 401 N. Milwaukee Ave. (across the street from Blommer Chocolate factory), will be built on pub cooking, including a 70-seat outdoor patio with a "backyard BBQ vibe."

The restaurant is shooting for a late summer opening.

Taus was the longtime owner/chef of Zealous, which closed on New Year's Eve 2012 after a nearly 20-year run. Before that, Taus worked in Charlie Trotter's kitchen.
