Nov. 07--Two more reasons to get excited about mfk (432 Diversey Parkway, 773-857-2540), the Spanish restaurant that has proven very popular in its four short months of existence.
The 28-seater, which previously has only accepted day-of reservations, now takes limited phone reservations up to 30 days in advance. Good news for diners who'd like to roll up at 8 p.m. and actually eat at 8 p.m.
The catch is that only four tables (two four-tops, two deuces) can be reserved that far in advance, and the maximum party size is six. Still, that represents two-thirds of mfk's tables, and nearly half of its overall seats.
What you won't be able to reserve is a seat at mfk's Blue Crab Fiestas, which will be held each Sunday in November (starting this weekend). Running from noon-5 p.m. and available only at the 12-seat bar, the fiesta will feature four jumbo blue crabs and unlimited slaw and hush puppies for $39.
Dress for mess.
