Jan. 13--Service on the Metro's Expo Line was briefly stopped Tuesday morning after a pedestrian was struck and critically injured by an eastbound train, authorities said.
The crash occurred at Arlington Avenue just before 10:30 a.m., said Metro spokeswoman Kim Upton.
The train was subsequently stopped between the Western and Crenshaw stations, she said, and buses were sent to pick up passengers. The cause of the crash was under investigation.
The person hit by the train was rushed to a hospital in critical condition, officials said.
The crash delayed service on the Expo Line by about 30 minutes, Upton said. Trains were forced to run on a single track until the area could be cleared.
So far this month the Metro system has experienced a suicide and a fatal shooting outside a Blue Line station.
