BRIEF: Metra trains delayed, canceled because of mechanical problems

Feb. 23--Several Metra trains on the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Line were either canceled or delayed Monday morning due to mechanical problems with a train at the Naperville station.

Train No. 1212, which was scheduled to arrive in Chicago at 7 a.m., is not going to operate past Naperville, and Chicago-bound train No. 1222, scheduled to depart from Brookfield at 6:50 a.m., will also be canceled, according to alerts on Metra's website.

An extra train will be accommodating passengers between Congress Park and Chicago, according to the alerts.

Chicago-bound trains No. 1208 and No. 1210 were about 25 to 30 minutes behind schedule, according to another Metra alert.

Train No. 803 on the SouthWest Line, which was scheduled to depart Chicago at 6:26 a.m. and arrive at 179th Street at 7:33 a.m., was also delayed by about 20 minutes due to the late arrival of equipment caused by earlier mechanical problems.
