BRIEF: Metra train strikes, kills pedestrian near Lisle

March 17--An inbound BNSF Metra train fatally struck a pedestrian Monday afternoon in Lisle, according to officials.

The train, which was scheduled to depart Lisle at 4:08 p.m. and get to Chicago at 4:58 p.m., was stopped near Lisle because it struck a pedestrian near the Lisle station, according to a service advisory on Metra's site.

Delays were expected, as long as 50 minutes or longer, the site said.

All inbound trains in that area were halted because of the incident, but at 4:54 p.m., outbound trains were on the move again following the fatal crash, officials said.

The BNSF was working with local police.
