BRIEF: Metra train injures pedestrian in West Town

Sept. 13--A person was injured Sunday morning after he was struck by an inbound Metra train in the West Town neighborhood, according to officials.

The incident happened at about 7 a.m. at a crossing at Kinzie and Carpenter Streets, said Metra Spokeswoman Meg Reile.

The male, whose age was not immediately available, was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in serious-to-critical condition, according to Chicago Fire Department spokesman Chief Jeff Lyle.

Reile said inbound Milwaukee District-North Line Train 2600 was making its first inbound trip of the day when it struck the pedestrian. The train was delayed for about 39 minutes.

Normal service resumed, Reile said.
