April 27--Melissa McCarthy got emotional Tuesday as she recalled filming the "Gilmore Girls" revival earlier this month.
"Oh, my God, it was so sad. I got so sentimental," McCarthy told People magazine at the Time 100 Gala in New York. "And it felt like the greatest idea in the world. It was lovely."

McCarthy, who grew up in Plainfield, initially said she wouldn't reprise her role as chef Sookie St. James for the four-part Netflix revival, due out by the end of the year. She later said she had an unexpected opening in her schedule.
"I went back and visited about two weeks ago and saw the sets again and everybody on them," McCarthy said.
"Gilmore Girls" aired from 2000-07. Lauren Graham (who plays Lorelai Gilmore) and Alexis Bledel (who plays her daughter, Rory) are among those who reprised their roles for the reboot.
