Aug. 19--Melissa McCarthy's new fashion line is being called "plus size" but that's not a term the Plainfield native appreciates.
McCarthy, 44, said it's "very bad business" to classify women's clothes that way.
"Women come in all sizes. Seventy percent of women in the United States are a size 14 or above, and that's technically 'plus-size,' so you're taking your biggest category of people and telling them, 'You're not really worthy,'" McCarthy told Refinery29 in an article posted online this week.
Melissa McCarthy Seven7, which comes in sizes four through 28, officially launches Sept. 1 but is available now on HSN and Nordstrom.com.
McCarthy, who stars in the CBS sitcom "Mike Molly," is filming a female-centric reboot of "Ghostbusters."
