March 05--Bryan Bickell has had a sushi roll named after him at Hot Woks Cool Sushi and a pita bread sandwich named after him at Pita Pit. Beginning on Friday, the Blackhawks' left winger will have a hot dog named after him at Meatheads locations.
"The Bickell Dog" will be available through May 3 and features a footlong Vienna Beef hot dog topped with chili and Fritos served on a cheddar cheese New England-style bun. Meatheads will donate 10 percent of each hot dog sold to the Bryan and Amanda Bickell Foundation, which raises awareness for dogs known as "pit bulls" and assists in the "pit bull" adoption process.
"(Meatheads) chose the ingredients," Bickell said Tuesday over the phone. "I came in and tried it and it turned out great. I went back the next day and ordered eight more for my family."
Bickell is scheduled to take part in a meet-and-greet Saturday at Meatheads at 3304 N. Western Ave from 3:30-5 p.m. Guests can also meet some of the dogs currently up for adoption during the event.
"The breed has been misunderstood," Bickell said. "We're just trying to give people the truth."
