BRIEF: Meat Loaf cancels Illinois State Fair appearance

May 04--Meat Loaf is no longer on the menu at the Illinois State Fair in August.

The rocker cancelled his scheduled Aug. 19 appearance with Styx and Tesla, just days after the concert was announced, Illinois Department of Agriculture spokeswoman Kristi Jones said. Jones did not say why Meat Loaf cancelled and no replacement act has been announced.

"We would like to find someone in that genre," Jones said.

Some Meat Loaf tickets were sold to fan clubs before they were scheduled to go sale through Ticketmaster Saturday, Jones said. Those ticket-holders are being offered full refunds, Jones said.

Other slated acts for the Illinois State Fair, including pop band The Fray, Sammy Hagar and Rascal Flatts, are still in the lineup.

Meanwhile, the Chicago cast of "Million Dollar Quartet," a musical inspired by Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins, will perform a free show Aug. 17, state fair officials announced Monday. Officials still have one act to announce in addition to Meat Loaf's replacement.

The Illinois State Fair runs Aug. 13-23 in Springfield.
